International aid organisations will brief the press on the outcomes of the Humanitarian Conference for Gaza, held in Jordan on Tuesday, 11th June, and on the ongoing humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip.

The INGOs present: Handicap International (Humanity & Inclusion - HI), the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), CARE, Oxfam, ActionAid.

The media briefing will take place online and will:
•    Share perspectives on the outcomes of the conference;
•    Provide insights into the catastrophic situation for civilians in the Gaza Strip;
•    Outline the obstacles faced by organisations delivering humanitarian aid;
•    Reiterate the absolute urgency of allowing and increasing humanitarian assistance;
•    Emphasise the criticality of action from UN Member States to impose a permanent ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access across Gaza.

Event background:
On June 11th 2024, Heads of State and Governments, and global leaders of NGOs, United Nations Agencies, and other humanitarian agencies will gather in Jordan for the Humanitarian Conference for Gaza.
The “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” Conference, recalling the existing humanitarian response and work done to further Security Council Resolution 2720 (2023) to streamline and expedite the process of assisting, will identify ways to strengthen the response to the humanitarian catastrophe, outline measures and procedures to deliver all necessary aid to Gaza,
identify the operational and logistical needs and the types of support necessary in that regard,
discuss preparations for early recovery and the coordination of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
